Training Information
It is recognised that whilst some may have ambitions to represent their Country, others may have lesser ambition only wishing to represent the club.
Trying to maximise a swimmers potential takes a lot of commitment both from the individual along with the parents and the coach. The following is the sort of progression you can expect for the number of sessions attended per week:
| Sessions per week | Potential results |
| One | Nothing significant, a small amount of fitness only |
| Two | Ideal for 7 & 8yr olds and those just starting to swim. Some fitness for others but little technical improvement. |
| Three | Progressive for those new to the sport (less than 1yr experience) and for those aged up to 10yrs. Fitness maintained for others. |
| Four | Progressive for swimmers up to the age of 11yrs girls/12 yrs boys. Fitness developed and for those who have been in the sport for over 12 months but less than 2 years. For other fitness maintained. |
| Five | Progressive for swimmers wishing to reach County/District level. High level of fitness developed. |
| Six + | Progressive for swimmers wishing to reach National level and to maximise potential fitness. |
When you attend training sessions try to arrive ten minutes early so that you are ready on time, as your coach may expect you to do warm up exercises on the poolside in preparation for the session. You will need two pairs of goggles
(one as a spare) and a drink of water or weak juice with you on the poolside for each session. Fizzy drinks are not suitable for consumption during training sessions.
